10 Things Every Driver File Should Contain

The following things that all of your driver files should contain

1. Date of hire: Date of hire is the first thing you should have in the driver file which should be signed and date offer of employment.

2. Resume or Application: Resume or driver application is must. it should in the office from where the company is operating

3. Three-year work history:  Three years past from the date of hire, make sure there are no gaps, if the driver is unemployed for x amount of time, it should be listed in the work history.

4. Annual Abstract:  Annual abstract is necessary in the driver file, Pull the driver abstract during Insurance renewal.

5. Abstract preceding the date of hire.

6. Driver training:

  • Hours of service 
  •  Load Securement
  •  Trip-Inspection 
  •  Weight & Dimensions

7. Driver log-books:  Previous 6 months and the current month

8.Driver Evaluation.

9.Collision Evaluation. (if applicable)

10. Any violation ticket- past 4 years
