  The Return-to-Duty Process and the Clearhousing Employers or their designated consortia/third-party administrators and substance abuse professionals must now report select parts of the return-to-duty process in the Clearhousing within specific time frames. This reported information will update the river's view of their RTD status. STEPS SAP request sent (not yet completed): The employer provides the driver with a list of DOT qualified SAP's  as required by section 40.287. The driver selects their SAP from this list or based on their own research. SAP Designated (not yet completed): The designated SAP initially evaluates the driver. Initial SAP Assessment (not yet completed):   The SAP provides the employer with recommendations for education/treatment.  Determined eligible for RTD Testing.  10 Things Every Driver File Should Contain The following things that all of your driver files should contain 1. Date of hire: Date of hire is the first thing you should have in the driver file which should be signed and date offer of employment. 2. Resume or Application: Resume or driver application is must. it should in the office from where the company is operating 3. Three-year work history:   Three years past from the date of hire, make sure there are no gaps, if the driver is unemployed for x amount of time, it should be listed in the work history. 4. Annual Abstract:   Annual abstract is necessary in the driver file, Pull the driver abstract during Insurance renewal. 5. Abstract preceding the date of hire. 6. Driver training: Hours of service    Load Securement  Trip-Inspection   Weight & Dimensions 7. Driver log-books:   Previous 6 months and the current month 8.Driver Evaluation. 9.Collision Evaluation. ELD MANDATE FOR CANADIAN TRUCKERS Canadian Transportation is moving towards ELD Mandate in June 2021. it will be happening even with the COVID-19 challenges. Trucking Industry is facing lots of challenges since March 2020 lockdown. The market rates are very low since the pandemic starts and the truck capacity is the  same. The trucking companies are struggling to keep the trucks running and cover their expenses. The Canadian Transportation department is moving towards ELD mandate which will increase the  in the expense of the trucking companies. The cost of 1 ELD is $150 US and there will 1-2 year contract with ELD companies. Transport Canada requires transport companies to use certified ELD devices by an accredited third party certification body.The Transportation companies are not clear which company's ELD is certified by the Transportation department. ELD MANDATE CANADA 2021 Transport Minister Omar Alghabra issued a statement, saying “As Minister of Transport, I am firmly committed to this timeline – these devices will further strengthen road safety in Canada. At the same time, the impact of Covid-19 on commercial vehicle operations has been unprecedented and must be acknowledged. As such, with the support of provinces and territories, and in consultation with industry, we will work together on the successful and effective implementation of a progressive enforcement period. This will give sufficient time for industry to obtain and install certified electronic logging devices without penalty as of June 12, 2021. Early enforcement measures will consist of education and awareness.”
